Chicago Immigrant Stories II: Finale
July 22, 2019, Pritzker Pavillon, Millennium Park
The collaborations and performances are led by Orbert Davis working with select musicians across the city – Greek saxophonist and composer Athanasios Zervas; members of Grammy-nominated folk ensemble Sones de México, Juan Díes and Victor Pichardo; and featuring immigrant orchestra members of Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, Argentinian pianist Leandro Lopez Varady, and Bulgarian violinist Zara Zaharieva.
The series kicked off in with Athanasios Zervas on January 24 (6:30PM) at the National Hellenic Museum in Greektown (West Loop). It will continued on February 21 (6:30PM) at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen. The project will culminate on July 22, 2019 with a full orchestral arrangement of these Innovation Lab ideas, featuring all the collaborating performers with CJP’s 60-member orchestra, conducted by Orbert Davis. All events are free and open to the general public.
