Established in 2009, the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic (CJP) Summer Jazz Academy is now expanding to a three week full-day intensive summer camp. It is designed to be accessible for music students of every level, ages 10-17.
Students participate in an ensemble, master classes and workshops, lecture courses, and jazz jam sessions. Students with no prior instrumental or vocal experience participate in our Music Discovery classes.
In addition, students are exposed to other artistic disciplines, civic engagement, and college and career counseling. Each day is capped off with a professional performance by guest artists. The program is taught by world-class musicians with goals to help sustain an important art form, provide crucial life skills, and open doors to higher education.
Includes a camp t-shirt and music materials. Does not include lunch, but students may bring a bag lunch or purchase items in university cafeteria
